Trans Fatty Acids: The poison in our food supply that most people are STILL eating every day 2009-07-08
Tom Venuto, fat loss expert, lifetime natural (steroid-free) bodybuilder, independent nutrition researcher, freelance writer, and author gives us some straight talk on Trans Fatty Acids: what they are, why they are bad and how to avoid them.
Almonds As a Snack 2009-07-08
An “article” in a recent issue of a health-related magazine aimed at men provides 5 steps to “mak[ing] your snack work as hard as you do”. Closer inspection reveals that the “article” is an ad from California Almonds. Now, almonds are one of my favorite snacks. I keep a container in my desk drawer and another container on hand at home. They are a healthy snack that has multiple benefits. But use care when reading material like this
Strawberry Champagne Vinaigrette 2009-07-03
Sometimes the best things are really simple. This dressing sounds like it is difficult to make, but it is extremely simple and quick. And it tastes like heaven! Serve over a mixed green salad with herbs and sliced cucumbers, garnished with sliced fresh strawberries.
Grilled Mahi Mahi with Roasted Pepper Sauce and Cilantro Pesto 2009-07-01
I love Mahi-Mahi. It can take on almost any flavor you like. This recipe uses a great cilantro pesto that brings out the best in the delicate flavors of the fish.
Marinara Sauce 2009-06-24
This is a quick pasta sauce that tastes like it cooked all day long! One of our favorites.
Victoria's Vegetable Stew - No Pasta 2009-06-24
This is an easy and hearty vegetable stew that is full of nutrition. It is a wonderful addition to a meal but is hearty enough to enjoy as a meal. Though there is no meat (other than the chicken stock) in this recipe, it contains a good amount of protein. Serve with a whole grain bread and olive oil for dipping.
Healthy Brown Rice Chili 2009-06-24
When I first heard the idea of chili without meat, I was skeptical. This recipe has changed my mind. Healthy Brown Rice Chili is a hearty dish that is everything a good chili should be. You can adjust the heat by adding jalapeno peppers or increasing the amount of cayenne pepper. Serve this with a side salad. Another staple in the Ranck household.
