Marinara Sauce

Marinara Sauce
This is a quick pasta sauce that tastes like it cooked all day long! One of our favorites.

tomatoes, crushed

tomato paste

onions
1/2
large
bell peppers

tbsp
olive oil

tsp
oregano
1
tsp
thyme
1
tsp
rosemary
1/4
cup
basil
1
pinch
cayenne pepper

tsp
black pepper
3
cloves
garlic
1/4
cup
red wine
1/4
tsp
stevia
Servings: 6

Start pot of water for pasta if needed.

Heat oil in deep over medium heat. Chop onions coarsely and add to oil, followed by bell peppers and garlic. Cook until onions are soft.

Deglaze pan with wine.

Add crushed tomatoes and tomato paste to pan. Stir thoroughly. Add remaining spices, except for basil.

Add pasta to boiling water. Drain when done. Cook sauce over low heat, stirring occasionally while pasta cooks and drains.

Roll basil leaves into long bundle and slice on an angle. Serve sauce over pasta and top with basil and parmesan.

Tips
Be certain to cook sauce over low heat, once tomato products have been added to the pan.
Simply remove ground beef for a marinara sauce
Use Italian frying or Cubanel peppers instead of green peppers
If using fresh herbs, increase amounts accordingly. Basil must be fresh.
